Reports for Shellatana 2008

Saturday 29 April -

Shellatana is looking very well, she is really growing and her work is being stepped up gradually. She has a gallop around the fields every day playing with her friends alongside a spell on the horse walker and 2 canters a day.

Saturday 15 April - Latest report 2006

Milton has her in full work with a couple of canters a day plus mechanical horse walk and still allowed time in the ”Play” paddock . To try and access a time scale with 3 year olds is difficult but Milton thinks that without any hiccups she will be ready towards the end of May. It is a long season and with no guide to how long she will take to be ready, how long a break between races etc is always a lottery to any trainer but it is great to monitor their progress from now to race fitness. They can surprise us all.

Tuesday 27 September - Nottingham

Everything going to plan today, Shelly was very calm in the paddock and on the way to post but as they moved behind the stalls a few of the horses were reluctant to go in and as the wind made the stalls rattle Shellatana approached the stalls and the noise frightened her and she would not go in along with 3 other horses in the race. She will now have to have a stalls test and we will report when we have our stalls certificate which will allow us to enter again. One of those unfortunate occurances.

Tuesday 30 August - Leicester

Was really wound up today like a coiled spring before the race sweating profusely in the hot sun and never ran her race though our jockey reported the ground today was like a road. Shellatana has now had 3 runs and will be given a handicap mark next week. We will then be searching for a 7 furlong + nursery.

Tuesday 9 August - Bath

What a wonderful run from our filly running with horses rated 20lb higher than her and only beaten 3 lengths, not at all knocked around. She jumped out and stumbled after the first furlong but this didn't put her off. Chris Catlin reported that Shellatana needs an extra furlong and THAT SHE IS READY!!! Only a few shares remaining in her, contact us now.

Friday 22 July - Chepstow

Inexperienced and green, Shellatana behaved impeccably in the parade ring and going down to the start and only a slight niggle going into the stalls but the blind fold went on and solved the problem. She was slowly away, we were hoping to run up the rails but had no choice but to race wide. She did so well to keep up with experienced rivals and just to be educated hands and heels, coming home 6 lengths behind the winner. Our jockey described her as a beautiful mover, travelled well for him and said she will improve for the run and in time when stronger will need 7 furlongs or a mile. Shellatana looks a real prospect. Shareholders at the course were over the moon with her appearance, behaviour and run. Do not forget she is by the valuable Mister Baileys who's progeny will be missed in the future though Shellatana's future paddock value will keep the bloodlines continuing.
