Reports for Yenaled 2007
Wednesday 8 August - Brighton No stalls today but Stephen got him into a lovely position travelling so well in 3rd and with 3 to go was still in a contention but when they quickened in front he couldn't go with them on this fast ground just staying on to be 5th. Stephen said he couldn't quicken when they did and the old legs have done more miles than the rest of the others put together. Will post further entries when available. Thursday 26 July - Bath Thrown a really bad draw in 16 and was always fighting a battle to get into the pack and the ground was so soft nothing could come from behind and he finished in about 9th place.
Not to back him today was the advice and correct
Will see how he is in a few days and further entries will be posted when available.
Saturday 30 June - Lingfield 5.40PM SATURDAY
Two crashes on the M4 meant a long delay in the horsebox getting to Lingfield and in fact was still 5 minutes away when a phone call at 5.45pm asking if we still wanted to run, with the race time of 6.15pm. We had a quick decision to make and said “Yes, if the horse was ok”. Yenaled managed to run well under the circumstances only giving in after the turn for home and we will see how he is in the morning before making a decision on where we run next.
Monday 25 June - Wolverhampton Didn't get the run of the race and is entered at Lingfield this Saturday 30th June. Saturday 16 June - Bath Not helped by the wide draw, Kevin was always having to use inches of rein to keep pace with them over this mile and a quarter eventually finishing mid field and Kevin and Milton are both of the opinion that he needs at least a mile and a half as they will go slower early on. Has come back ok and further entries will follow. Sunday 10 June - Bath As expected needed this run and he ran a smashing race moving into 5th with 3 to go but they just quickened away from him but Kevin said he travelled extremely well, loved the ground and was staying on at the one pace and needs at least one and a half miles or even further but Milton thought that if we run in a lower grade he could do well at a mile and a quarter. Further entries will follow. Monday 6 November - Wolverhampton Yenaled looked really well in himself today but unfortunately he got stuck on the rails and had nowhere to go until all too late. Stephen apologised and said there was nothing he could do, he couldn't get off the rails without causing an accident to himself and Yenaled and of course the other runners so he just had to sit tight and hope a gap came but it didn't. After what had happened in the third race here at Wolverhampton with three horses falling and one horse a fatality we have to be grateful that horse and jockey came back in one piece.
Further entries will be published when available. Saturday 14 October - Catterick Disappointed that the horse pulled hard early and Luke couldn’t get him in and settle him then as they came into the straight as they spread all over the track he decided to come down the centre which in fact was the slowest part of the track and Yenaled couldn’t pick up, left with far too much to do. Having spoken to Milton he was disappointed that on the first circuit Luke couldn’t get Yenaled settled into the middle of the pack and Yen always pulling on the outside with lots of daylight.
He is entered on Thursday 20th October at Brighton.
Monday 2 October - Pontefract As you are now aware Frankie Dettori ignored our instructions taking the horse to the front despite requesting to be held up and he weakened not suprisingly two furlongs out. It is a real shame that professionals cannot do their job. Saturday 16 September - Warwick Another superb run from our 9 year old who was in top form and only beaten a short head. A brilliant ride from Osacr Urbina who bought him with a lovely run to come wide in the home turn tracking the leader on the rails and moving him up to challenge a furlong from home and "Yen" and Royal Flynn tussled to the line.
A super run by our "Yen" and he really does deserve to get his head in front very soon. Another great day out for shareholders who enjoyed every minute. Friday 1 September - Chepstow Stephen Drowne always smiles when he gets on Yenaled who he calls a "Good old boy" as he always gives his all and today was no different as Yen came through two furlongs out to chase the leader Moonshine Bill and a battle developed in the final furlong and we lost by a head. Stephen was all smiles when dismounting and was really pleased with our horse fighting to the line. A great day had by all shareholders at the course. Monday 28 August - Chepstow We expected the ground to be soft today for this mile and a quarter race but with a slightly breezy and dry day by 4.15pm we faced good ground and when they turned for home Yenaled was caught flat footed but ran on strongly to finish 7th. Ian Mongan was due to ride but 20 minutes before the race we had to change our jockey to Robert Miles.
He has come out of the race well and will run at Chepstow this Friday 1st September over a mile and a half. Friday 28 July - Chepstow A great crowd and most of Milton's family at Chepstow tonight to support Milton's grandaughter Hayley Davies riding Yenaled in the amateur race and the horses went off at a furious pace in this mile and a half contest and turning for home the pair were last with 5 furlongs to go, then found themselves with a wall of horses ahead, Hayley pulled him to the outside and ran on strongly to finish 7th. Yenaled and Hayley both fine after the race. Monday 24 July - Windsor What a cracking run by Yenaled to finish 2nd with Steven Srowne patiently sitting in 5th place and then moving into a challenging position as they turned for home staying on strongly to beat all bar the well rated Monash Lad. A great evening for all shareholders at the track and we will see how he is tomorrow before making a decision on his next race.
Saturday 24 June - Lingfield Yenaled looked really relaxed in the late evening heat at Lingfield. As usual he behaved like a perfect gentlemen and it is a pleasure to be around him. Steve Drowne sat him on the inside behind the leaders then started working on him three furlongs out. Yenaled finished 10th and we were really pleased with this run as it was on the short side for him. Steve reported he is a gentleman to ride and would love to ride him again, he also said that a mile and two furlongs at Lingfield was too sharp for him on the all weather track and ideally get him back over a mile and a half for which he is entered for next week. As long as Yenaled is fine tomorrow we will go to Brighton on Tuesday. Friday 16 June - Chepstow A very warm evening at Chepstow and Yenaled looked superb and was on his toes when Donna mounted, went down to the start taking a nice hold and a really great first run for us.
He was dropped out a little too far back and came with a strong looking run 4 furlongs out staying on nicely but needing the run. Keep an eye out for further entries in the next week. Wednesday 7 June - Kempton Yenaled looked fantastic and very excited to be back at the races. Unfortunately as he was on his way to the start, he put his head down, spooked into the rail and Donna came off. It was decided to withdraw Yenaled from the race. Yenaled and Donna are both fine which was our main concern.
Things like this do happen in racing and we will now search for another race for Yenaled. Sunday 14 May - Chepstow We made a visit to Chepstow today to see how Yenaled was settling into his new home and we are pleased to report that he is very well, relaxed and seemed extremely happy, especially when he realised we had polo's!!! What a beautiful looking horse he is and as you can see below he loved the camera and willingly posed for our photo shoot!
Since arriving at the yard late Monday evening all of the staff have fallen in love with him. He is a true gentleman with perfect stable manners and has enjoyed finding his way around Milton's yard.
He has been out to play in the fields in the glorious sunshine and after only his 6th day in the yard looks very much at home.
We will decide on his future racing plans in the next week or so after we have discussed these with Milton and we will keep you all posted.
